Activities

There is always something going on in camp. We have a variety of recreational areas and events going on. You're bound to find something fun to do. We have a wonderful group of member volunteers on our Activities and Recreation Committees that do a fantastic job organizing a multitude of functions.

Annual Events

Egg Coloring-
Bring the kids and have fun coloring eggs at KK5, This event typically takes place the night before the Easter Bunny visits.

Santa Claus-Every December, Santa visits us for a photo opportunity and goodies for the little ones.

Pumpkin Decoration-

Poker Run on the Lake-

The Waterfront is the home to a Summer Poker run on the lake. Boats visit several check stops on the lake and trade in the completed punch card for a Poker hand.

Beach Blast Dance-
The closest thing to being on a tropical vacation, right in your very own campground. DJ music at the Swim beach and lots of fun for the whole family.

Waterfront

Lake Merwin is a 4,090 acre reservoir that was built in 1931.  This reservoir is the last of three on the Lewis River as it winds its way to the Columbia.  The reservoir is immense, at almost 13 miles long with 32 miles of shoreline, an average depth of 104 feet and a max depth of 190ft.

The Lake Merwin Campers Hideaway Waterfront consists of a dual boat launch, private and rental moorage, swim beach, canoe racks, dog beach, swim area with platform, picnic tables, cooking grills, snack shack, and restroom facilities.  Swimming, fishing for cokanee or tiger muskee, relaxing in the sun, skiing, wakeboarding, pleasure cruising and picknicing, its all here for you.

Playgrounds

Play areas are located throughout the Hideaway and were designed for use by members and their families. There is a main playground with many different play structures near our Meditation Point Chapel. There is also a smaller playground located across from our pool building near the Putt-Putt golf course and several other smalll playgrounds located on blocks 4, 6, 8, 16, and 18.

Putt-Putt Golf Course

Hideaway Acres is a 9-hole miniature golf course designed by members of the Hideaway and maintained by donations and volunteers. It offers a challenge to the everyday golfer of all ages!  There are several Golf Tournaments with fun and prizes for the entire family that are usually held on the holiday weekends. The course is located next to the playground, VIP Courtesy sites and across from the Pool Building.

Tennis & Basketball Courts

The outdoor tennis Courts are located on Block 18, in the lower part of camp, closer to the lake. The court is enclosed by a chain link fence that makes it a tight court but still fun for a set or two!   A second tennis/Basketball court is located across from Meditation point adjacent to the main playground.  Bring your own raquets, tennis balls and basketball (or check them from the pool staff) and you're all set.

Volley Ball Court

There is an area available for volleyball during the summer season.

Indoor pool, Sauna and Jacuzzi

In addition to the 2150 square foot heated swimming pool. The pool building contains a Sauna, whirlpool bath and dressing rooms with showers. There is always a paid employee in attendance while the pool is open, but there is not a Lifeguard on duty. It's open every day in the summer with the exception of Tuesdays when it is closed for cleaning.  During the off season, its only open on weekends.

Exercise Facility

We have a full service workout facility located in the pool building.  The equipment includes Treadmills, elliptical, bike, multipurpose machines and free weights.  It is available for members and their family that are over the age of 18.  There is a small annual fee for membership.

Meditation Point

Meditation Point is a non-denominational chapel that has indoor and outdoor services every Sunday during the Summer season. Located on the viewpoint, it's windows and open air areas overlook the lake, with spectacular views of the lake and Mount Saint Helens. The chapel offers a variety of guest speakers and musicians each week. The Chapel is available to rent by members and has served as a beautiful backdrop for many weddings. Members of our volunteer security may be available to sign in your guests at the gate and escort them into camp. A donation to the security fund is requested for their service.

Papa Bear Theater

Not quite the Drive-in, but the next best thing and just as fun! Movies are offered every other weekend during the summer and on a holiday weekend. Family movies are shown at our Papa Bear Theatre under the stars. We do offer refreshments and popcorn, because what fun is a movie without the popcorn?!
